Party on baby!

A better bunch of boys you would never find...

Saturday saw the Braves converge on the Kammy golf course for a hit, moved onto the bowlo for a bowl and then onto Maz's crib for a barbie and some more drunken shenanigans including fireworks, a bonfire which they had a permit for and some other explosives fun.

Al wore his medal for Coaches pet, Pez wore his straw hat which obviously hampered his golf game. His team did win though. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, Mcloskeys team was unable to hit anyone else with their golf balls. The Kammy Open was to be held the next day and the first groups out would have been puzzled by the amount of balls the boys wacked around the first and second fairways before we buggered off. A little pyrotechnics show in the car park before we headed into Candelo city.

Bowls was entertaining for a while- Buzz and Paddy joined us for a couple of hours there- always good to see the lads. A bit of gambling followed, despite the wailings of the lady who had gambled her savings away previously in a display of distraught tears. Donnie has some support group cards if you feel you have any such problems. a quick game of stick where Paddy tried to pick a fight with Donnie was followed by some abuse of the choclate machine before the Braves headed off to Bemboka.

The trip was punctuated by some individuals throwing stuff out of Maz's car at the car behind- no injuries resulted, but much mirth was had. JMac dropped the hammer and soon put an end to their fun. We'd run out of stuff to throw at you anyway.

Back at the pub for a quick stop, keg pickup and off the boys headed for Maz's party shed. Fireworks, orange gun, barbie, movie, BWF (Bemboka Wrestling Federation), and the bonfire(which we had a permit for) followed.

A great day for the Braves which is sure to follow Sunday when some of the boys will look to return and clean off the keg.

Big thanks to Maz for organising the day and the shirts which look great. If anyone wants one we might be able to get some more done.

Cricket time I guess. Over and out for a few months.

Maz plans end of season weekend perfectly

The one lass who did come along drank Dunko under the table...

This Saturday sees the Braves celebrate a 'could have been' year out at Kammy golf course, Candelo Bowlo and back to the Bemboka Pub to mop up. maz timed the weekend to coincide with the Bye the Braves Cricket team had in the first round of the competition- a stroke of genius there from him.

Gunna start gathering at the Pub from 0930 onwards with a projected leave time for golf around 10ish.

Bring your drinkin hat and $35 for your shirt, BBQ and the keg afterwards..

The boys are looking for particularly strong performances from medal winners Crouch and Al, so get stuck in boys. First to spew goes home with a prize( a new Braves shirt with vomit down the front).

Go you drunk and disorderly Braves!

Al was hoipng to be among the winners...

The Braves will have their gala presentation evening on the 26th starting at 6 down at Brave Park. It will signal the start of a big weekend for some of the boys.

Yearly Awards 08'

The Braves were uncertain about Miko's new choice of strip for 09'...

Best Goal Celebration

Who else? A man who had a real purple patch mid season then got frustrated with his lack of finishing percentage and played out the year out wide. Miko Came up with 2 very late goals against the Grasshoppers at home- a game we really should have lost-to pull a point out of our collective asses. And the celebrations- shirt waving, sprinting about like a rabbit on speed, topless, wemon swooning blah blah blah.. Good man. Get yourself up front again next year boy.

Worst goal celebration

McLoskey, who had to be crash tackled to add some spice to his after goal antics against Tathra at home. Even after Miko had called for more euphoria before the match after goals. Equal worst- Jmac. Hang on, he didn't score. Except if you count the goal for Wolumla in the elimantion final...

Best miss

Equal between Barney's drive from Dunko's underhit corner in the first final in Eden and Maz's sizzling effort to try to force ET v Wolumla in the final. Oh well...

Most fouls

Fox. Not only did our renassaince man get better every single game, he kept the mongrel in his game which consistently unsettled his opponents. One more year son. Oh, also an award for Fox and Maz being the only receipents of yellow this year- amazing after our 20 odd last year...

Best...
Trainer, player, team man, passer, header, penalty taker- you name it. Crouch can do it all. Just ask him.

Best dummy spit
Lenno for his effort at home. Think Donnie and Dunko may worn that one. Tears all round. Honary mention- Paddy's spray at Fox for wasting a ball v Merimbula(?). He's still apologising:)

Best Impersonation of Johnnie Walker

Angus. Played v Bega in Bega (Dunko's first game) and wasn't seen after. Spotted in town when he waved to Dunko last week though...

Second best trainer
Donnie. Nuff said.

Best under Pressure
Buzz. Doesn't mind a bit of pressure. Just don't expect miracles:)

Best impersonation of a runaway train.
Simo when he had his mind on getting a piece on a loose ball. Or player.

Most romantic
Jmac. Went fishing on a secluded beach. made a 1 metre high sand castle, complete with hinged french windows, which opened, revealing a 45 carat diamond engagement ring for Brookie. Not all of that might be true, but it's a good story. Good luck to you both:)

Best Pisstake
Adam being told we lost the first final and we played short? Putting Donnie in goals with a crook back? Putting Maz on when he was still pissed? Making Maz captain? Fox announcing his retirement? Miko saying he might strengthen his knee? Adam saying he'll never rally his new car(or his mum's)? Dunko promising not to shout before a game? Someone telling Al to grow up? you decide...

Best own goal
Buzz's accident v Wolumla at home? J Mac scoring for Wolumla to send us out this year? can't think of any others..

Oddest game of the year
2 penalties v Wolumla in the first 7 minutes? What were we supposed to do then?

Biggest surprise
Lack of yellows? Tony Mac's sudden liking the Braves? McLoskey turning up to training (at least twice)?

There's lots more, but enough for now...

Braves last stand for '08

The Braves went out kicking and screaming on Sunday to the predictably physical, unskillful, sly, plucky Bushrangers. It was never going to be easy for the Braves, with the Bega field being a hoodoo ground over the past years for the boys in blue. There was an undoubted possession share for the Braves, but unfortunately some passes and touches let us down thru the match. The Bega field also seems to have a 'radio silence' effect on the Braves- the boys were unusually uncommunicative on Sunday which didn't help the cause at times.

The Braves started with a 4-4-2 for the first time this year hoping the practice would aid them next week.

Not quite sure what happened here- this was the first draft, I published the fial draft with a funny pic, but it's gone now. I'll have another go somethime. Or not...

Fairytales do come true!

The Boys enjoyed it when Barney strapped his new boots on...

Once upon a time one of the more exerienced Braves turns up for the biggest game of the year and suddenly realises he's left his boots behind. And the game is in Eden. Maz also thought he'd done it, but was happy to find them on the floor in the back of his unmarked patrol car.

Barney it was though that went on to promptly blame Emma for his boots being at home. After trying on a few stray spare pairs of the boys boots (ala' Cinderella), he decided to approach the fairy godmothers of the Bega Devils ladies lineup.

It was there that this fairytale came true. He came back beaming with a size 10 pair of chick's boots and the 3 ugly sisters(Buzz, Fox and Simo) had become very jealous. They refused to pass him the ball and made his life hard throughout the game, but Barney did not turn into a pumpkin, nor did he kiss a frog, nor did he get chased by the wicked witch of the East.

Instead, he went on to play his best and his magical chick boots were returned to their rightful owners, whom they had not performed for the game before.

Barney vowed never to forget his boots again.

And he lived happily ever after.

Go you cross dressing Brave!
