Game 2 for the Braves, and a full strength lineup for both teams!
Ressies were able to sneak away with a 1-0 win with a darting finish from legendary FSCFA goalscorer Pip Pearson. Took the great man's tally to 3(?) for the season after 2 in the first round against Bega at Brave Park. It was a typically tight and physical clash between the two clubs, which could have gone either way. Special mentions go to Russ 'the Muss' Hill, Nick 'no nickname as of yet' Constable (shouldn't be that hard).
Firsts went into the game against the Wolumla Firsts after a full month off owing to the draw. They looked good, but some were a little dehydrated from Marg Collins' 70th birthday party the evening before, which was generally well attended and celebrated by the 'young and bulletproof faction' of the Braves lineup. No time for moaning though, as the action soon hotted up and the Braves knew (as always), that Wolumla were up for the fight. The Braves were on the board first with Graheme Barnett sitting a perfect cross on his Brother's newly prodigious head and he buried the header! Seasoned Braves Strikers beware!
After the goal, the Braves Kinda gave up rolling the ball around to people who had called for it, and as a consequence possession became a bit panicky and the ball was given away cheaply a number of times. As a result, Wolumla hit back before the break, the author forgetting the exact details of how they snuck past the solid wall that is the Braves Backline.
A quick cameo as celebrity hit man after the break was Fox's highlight for the day which ended with him philosophical about his aggression on the pitch at Touch Footy on the following Monday. As a role model for Young Braves, Fox is due to make a public apology on this Blog exclusively sometime in the next few years (when he gets a PC). Luigi O'Reilly, new recruit from the Liverpool academy (off season transfer), also showed a flash of aggression when he tiredly chopped one of the sprightly Wolumla midfeilders which resulted in a flash of yellow for him forst game back. At the time of print, no promise of an apology from O'Reilly on that one.
All in all, The Braves sorta just held on for the point by the final whistle- never a bad result out at the Bushrangers Home pitch, especially seeing as though they had set the feild up with land mines, glass, stones and tent spikes in strategic locations around the pitch for the unsuspecting Braves.
So a sneaky win for Ressie's and a fairly uninspiring draw for the Firsts leaves the Ressie's on top and the Firsts with 1 point from 2 games. Time for some practice passing and possession at training!
Go the Braves!

The Braves have an Italian import from the Liverpool academy? I wonder if he can score? Probably not...
