Grasshoppers v Braves 3.6.07

Naro had kicked the ball 3 times, but it refused to budge...

Last Sunday, the Mighty Bemboka Braves outfit travelled to Grasshopper city down in Merimbula to do battle by the coast. The author of this post did the best he could to shield the First grade result in the BDN writeup. The Braves were slightly hampered to lack of numbers (see previous post), but put in a strong showing in both grades on the day.
Ressie's were first out and Mick O'Reilly making his first start as superstar striker was unlucky not to put the Braves ahead, making a nice break on goal but forgetting the offside law in the process. *The referee was overheard saying 'that will teach you, you country bumpkin knob'-that point is a complete fabrication, but a backlash from the point the same ref made at the association meeting about being misquoted in the press. It was an entertaining game in which club stalwart Russ Hill limped off the ground after a twist of a knee. Don't worry Russ, you've got one more perfectly good one till it comes right (soon we hope). A mighty effort from both teams with no goals, which means the Braves Ressie's stay on top until their next game.
The Grasshoppers managed to gather their First Grade team together for the first time this year (as predicted by Luigi), and looked impressive. They over came a tired Braves First grade squad 3-0, enjoying a lion's share of possession(94.6% according to Braves' statistitians), with the Brave's producing a few half chances that didn't end up in the net.
The Braves look forward to welcoming new recriut Mark 'Ando' Anderson to training Thursday- under pain of death from Maz 'hardman' O'Reilly if he pikes out.
This week the Eden Wailers travel to Brave Park to do battle. There is a full day of junior matches as well as daytime fireworks and a marching band (maybe), so don't miss out on the great day's entertainment!
*Don't forget to make it to the bemboka pub for the strippers for Maz's birthday Saturday night.. His Bday is Sunday, so don't forget to give him shit about turning 30..

Go you Braves!
